The dilemma faced at GBC was to extract data from the J.D. Edwards™ source systems and present it in a format suitable for everyone to use. GBC's previous reporting had been insufficiently detailed, untimely, inaccurate and unsuitable for distribution to customers.

The Solution for GBC
The first step in delivering an appropriate solution for GBC was to extract the data from the J.D. Edwards™ source system located on an AS/400. This was achieved using data extraction tools that incorporate cleansing and aggregation functionality. This cleansed data was then loaded into the Q4bis DataServer data repository, providing a consistent environment for reporting.

GBC now needed a front end user tool that would allow them to display the data in a highly flexible environment, and be simple enough for those who were 'PC illiterate' to use. Q4bis met this challenge by deploying the Q4-Analysis management reporting application.

The Q4bis DataServer data repository also allowed GBC to deploy 2 dimensional operational and status reporting to their intranet using Crystal reports.
