Easy to learn
By intentionally controlling (limiting) the dimensions
and layout of a screen, the user is freed from the responsibility
of having to keep track of this themselves, and prevents
them from unwittingly introducing confusion into the
analysis. This allows them to pay more attention to
the information that is revealed in the data, rather
than concentrating on the use of the multi-dimensional
tool. End-user training is typically all of 2-3 minutes
which means your IS department will not be taxed to
support the product.
The screens are designed to present a specific type
of data, and the presentation has been designed to coincide
with its traditional appearance (e.g. balance sheet,
debtor ageing analysis, Inventory analysis, sales forecast
etc). Having screens that portray the information in
this familiar way again reduces the learning curve and
helps the user focus on the meaning of the data, rather
than how to use the presentation tool.

Easy
to use
The screens are accessed through a menu that is configured
by the users to suit their specific requirements. Navigation
within the screens uses a simple, consistent interface.
Configurable system defaults set the application to
the preferred state, all screens open to the default
settings and can be returned to the defaults at the
press of a button. By creating a layer between the user
and the base OLAP tool, Q4bis has been able to develop
a product that is simple to introduce and even easier
to operate. Thanks to Q4-Analysis, the power of OLAP
analysis is now available to a wider audience.

Consistent user interface across all
modules
The consistent navigation and fixed dimension layout
helps the user to focus on the meaning of the information
rather than the state of the multi-dimensional tool.
The consistent interface is primarily characterized
by the separation of the screen into four related zones
(quadrants). These quadrants are always synchronized.
Having several different views of the data presented
together in the same screen ultimately promotes a greater
understanding of the information.
Navigation within the screen is by mouse. Mouse icons
are intuitive to the function. The result is a screen
that most users (even the most PC illiterate) can learn
to navigate through in less than 30 minutes. This consistent
method of interaction is quickly reinforced across the
various screens. Additional screens, representing additional
views of the company data can now be interrogated within
this simple consistent standard.

Modular
Modules are the groups of screens that present information
related to a specific business area. These screens are
designed to present a particular type of data, in a
functional way that is appropriate to the intended audience.
They provided added value to the information presented,
and by taking a modular approach, the implementation

of the application.

Configurable
The screens are delivered in the context of an integrated
presentation application. Configuration functionality
within this application allows the user to work through
the setup wizards to define the data that they want
presented in the screen. Any single screen can have
several defined configurations. In this way a single
screen can be utilized to present a variety of data.
Each configuration definition can be added to the menu.
The application itself can also be configured to the
local environment. System setup options allow the users
to name and decorate the application, tailoring it to
their own needs.
